Irish Open April 26th-28th 2019

IRISH PICKLEBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS 2019.... APRIL 25TH TO 28TH

This is our third National Championships. In year one we kept it a closed event, exclusive to Irish based players only...just to see what the standard was like. In our second championships we doubled the entry and were delighted to welcome several players from the US.

The 2019 championships have attracted significant interest from abroad and we expect to double the entry again. It will still be a small tournament in International terms but size isn't everything.

Our championships are hosted by the Active Retirement group in the beautiful village of Multyfarnham situated in the centre of the country (give or take a few miles) and I would confidently say that you won't experience better hospitality anywhere in the world.

The format of our championships is also unique in that we will have three separate championships rather than a multitude of categories based on standard and age. In time this is likely to change as numbers increase but, as a small event, this works well for now.
Please note that these championships are for over 18s only. However we look forward to the day that we can host an under age national/international event.

The Irish Senior Championships (over 65's) is an open event for all standards as long as you meet the age requirement. This takes place on Thursday (mens and ladies doubles)and Friday (Mixed doubles) 25th and 26th of April offering a stand alone event for what is likely to be the largest entry.
Of course this also means that any seniors who fancy their chances against the young guns can enter either of the other two events on Saturday and Sunday.

The Irish Intermediate Championships are for level 3 and under.

The Irish Open Championship is intended for players of level 3.5 and over.

In both the Intermediates and The Open we will play mens and ladies doubles on Saturday 27th and mixed on Sunday 28th. Depending on numbers entering we may have to use a second venue on Saturday and Sunday courtesy of the local secondary school.

Entry will open by mid September through a link from this page.
