Pickleball in the Netherlands
Pickleball is a fun and social racket sport. For a short introduction, watch this little movie.
On Friday afternoon, 1 March 2013, the first pickleballgame on Dutch soil was played on Java Island in Amsterdam! In the meantime, there are more and more active pickleball groups like in Almere, Amsterdam, Bath, Eefde, Haarlem, The Hague, Harlingen, Hoogeveen, Melick, Oosthem en Utrecht. New initiatives are actively supported by the pickleball association. Every year is the Dutch Championship and every 2 years there is a big international tournament: Dutch Open.
In the rest of the world, the number of pickleball players has grown explosively in recent years to millions of players and there are now clubs and courts everywhere. We are working hard to spread the pickleball virus further throughout the Netherlands. As a sport for all ages to play fanatically and at a high level or recreational up to an old age. Pickleball is a sport for everyone, all ages and all levels! Participants’ reactions are enthusiastic! It is easy to learn and you have a lot of fun.
